Man Shocked as Cat Brings Home Someone's Pet Ferret to Play: 'Unbelievable'
The internet was in hysterics after a cat brought a ferret friend home to play.
Cats are sometimes known to protect their personal space and are wary of anything that interferes with that, but in one instance, a cat appeared to have made friends with a neighborhood ferret and even brought him home for a snack.
While ferrets are considered to be social animals - recommended to be kept in pairs - there are several considerations that should be factored in when introducing them to other species.
According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Australia (RSPCAA), ferrets are strict carnivores and eat whole animals, including small rodents.
It added: "There are cases where ferrets have hunted and killed kittens and other small animals such as hamsters in the household. This is likely a result of their natural instinct to hunt small animals for food."
In a viral video shared by Dylan Walton, who goes by dylski95 on TikTok, the growing bond between the pair was clear for all to see.
The clip, which can be seen here, opened with the cat and ferret climbing down from a sofa before Dylan appeared to be in disbelief to have an unwelcome guest in the house.
As the video continued, the ferret scurried into the kitchen, followed closely by his feline friend. Once the ferret got there he spotted a snack on the floor and quickly started to eat it.
Another video continued the adventure and was captioned: "Random ferret eating with my cat."
Dylan said: "Him [the ferret] and the cat are just playing together. It's unbelievable."
But Dylan revealed the ferret was not a stray and had been returned to its owner, although it did make him think about getting a friend for his cat.
Since being shared online, the first video of the dynamic duo has been viewed more than 1.9 million times, while the follow-up clip was seen about 52,900 times.
Many of those who commented on the post found the situation to be hilarious while some hoped they could have play dates in the future.
One TikTok user said: "So dad, I kinda found a new friend. Can he stay?"
Another added: "i wonder if she thinks it's a really strange looking kitten."
A third posted: "I had ferrets for years. they're tough little guys and can get on really well with cats. so glad you got them back to the owner."
While a fourth commented: "You'll have to do weekly play dates if the ferret owners haven't grounded him."
Newsweek has contacted Dylan for comment.
Content featuring cats often goes viral on TikTok, with some videos quickly gaining millions of views within a short space of time.
A hilarious video showed a cat tricking a golden retriever into thinking it was dead, leading the pooch to try to "resuscitate" it in a viral clip.
As Q the dog nudged and nipped the cat, the feline continued to play dead until the dog eventually gave up and walked over to the camera.
