McDonald's Worker Wearing Brass Knuckles Attacks Teen at Restaurant: Police
A female McDonald's employee allegedly attacked a teenage boy with brass knuckles at one of the fast-food chain's Chicago outlets, according to police.
Chicago police said the assault on the 15-year-old boy took place at a McDonald's near Western and Warren on Tuesday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department told Newsweek: "A male victim 15, was inside a commercial business at the above location when he was approached by a female employee who began punching the victim in the head and facial area while wearing brass knuckles.
"The victim was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital for treatment. No one is in custody at this time. Area Three detectives are investigating."
Chicago police recorded 117 cases of aggravated battery between November 7 and November 13 this year. That represented an 8 percent drop from the same period in 2021, when 127 were recorded. There have been 5,278 cases of aggravated battery so far this year.
ABC 7 reported that no one had been charged in connection with the alleged assault as of Thursday morning.
A McDonald's spokesperson told ABC7: "The safety and security of our customers and crew is our number one priority.
"This crew member's actions, while off-the-clock and visiting the restaurant as a customer during this incident, are unacceptable and they are no longer with our organization."
Newsweek has also contacted McDonald's for comment.
Other Incidents at McDonald's
There have been numerous cases of assault and criminal damage at McDonald's restaurants across the U.S.
In June, a McDonald's customer allegedly caused $10,000 in damage after he became upset about getting $2 in change and chicken sandwiches.
In a Facebook statement, a Memphis Police Department spokesperson said: "The suspect made threats to do bodily harm to the female employees, and knocked the cash registers off their stands onto the floor, causing $10,000 worth of damage."
An Asian man assaulted at a drive-thru at a Maryland McDonald's claimed the person who attacked him made racist insults about him.
Shang Wang drove to a fast food restaurant in Rockville, Maryland, and said he was abused by a customer who was honking behind him.
He told local news station WJLA-TV: "And then I hear these racial comments. 'Go back to China! Hey, you Chinese MF'er!' And I look up, this guy is at my window and he spits through my window, and the spit lands on my face."
Wang was allegedly later assaulted by the man who kicked and spat at him, according to the news station.
