Sinead's death, which came after her son Shane's suicide last year, sparked an outpouring of grief in her native Ireland and around the world on Wednesday.

Aisling joined in the tributes, sharing her post which showed the group posing together and also a clip of Sinead's incredible performance on the night.

Chatting to Ryan, Sinead spoke about Maura's boobs, saying: 'I sat down beside Maura for a chat in the green room...

'I thought she'd forgot her blouse so I told her I was jealous of her breasts, I said 'Jaysus you have the most perfect boobs, mine are completely f**cked'.

'Maura said nothing and just smiled politely. She seemed a bit cold to be out without her shirt on at this time of year. I'm joking of course but she did seem like a sweet girl and I've never seen Love Island.'

Speaking on the show after her tear-jerking performance on the show, Sinead spoke about the support she received from fans and viewers.

She said: 'I'm very moved by all the love and support. It's really encouraging. Ryan is a very kind and very special person and I have to thank him for going well out of his way to make the whole experience one which I will remember and treasure forever.

'The reaction to the performance has nothing to do with me. It's not me, it's the song people are reacting to.'It's something that represents real heaviness they have gone through in their life. Or joyful events they have experienced.'

Three years before his suicide, Sinead also spoke about her son Shane in a hilarious story about mistaken identity between the duo.

Sinead explained: 'I wasn't going to wear a hijab on the Late Late but I decided I would after I got a letter from a lovely Muslim lady who said there would be lots of ladies with hijabs at my shows in Vicar Street so I sent my son Shane, who's 17, home to get it.

'The gas thing is when he was coming back in, the photographers outside thought he was me and started shouting 'Sinead, Sinead' at him.'

She then spoke about her affinity with Islam, to which she converted in 2018, when she changed her name to Shuhada Sadaqat.

She said: 'Islam is tragically misunderstood and tremendously misrepresented, and as a consequence we have real Islamophobia problem not only in this country but worldwide.

'Islam is a religion of peace and compassion and of fair play. Which is ultimately why it is being misrepresented.

'If people knew Islam they wouldn't worship money. And those who run the world wouldn't like that.'

Aisling's tribute read: 'How desperately sad the loss of Sinéad O'Connor is. For music and Ireland. I did the Late Late Show with her a few years ago, a classic Irish lineup of all sorts of us, but I'd like to think including some women making their own paths in their worlds and not ones likely to be told to be quiet...

'She was an absolute hero of mine and one of the few people I've ever been star struck by. I think she could tell because I became a chatty mess. She was dry and funny and kind and sharp and incredibly gentle...

'There's a beautiful documentary out about her life now which is inspiring but also so desperately sad, not just because of what she went through but because of how she was treated, often by her own...

'She was vilified, humiliated at times, metaphorically crucified when alone and in her twenties. Everything she stood up for and against then, including racism in the music industry, has been proven to have been needed and right...

'She wasn't just trying to look out for herself. She was the original truth sayer who wouldn't go easy into the night. The original 'difficult' woman who didn't make it easy. Because easy wasn't the right thing to do and it wasn't the truth...

'Gone too soon. Nothing compares to you.'

Bereaved fans replied: 'Beautiful tribute to a beautiful human... What a beautiful tribute to an awesome woman x... Beautiful words. She will be so very missed...

'She was an extraordinary woman. So brave. This is a terrible, terrible loss... Thinking of you. What a tremendous loss... Beautifully put. Just so sad that you had to write it... What a gathering of icons'.
